Bill Maher tweet takes a shot at Tebow

Submitted by on Tuesday, 27 December 2011No Comment

Bill Maher has never been one to shy away from delving into political and religious debates. The self proclaimed atheist has challenged & argued many high profile individuals in our society in the validity of their religious beliefs. So it was only to be expected during Tebowmania that he would chime in on one of the most dominant stories in the sports world over the last couple of months.

In typical Maher fashion he decided to stir the pot with some controversial sarcastic remarks following Tebow’s performance against the Buffalo Bills on Saturday which happened to be Christmas Eve. Check out the comment he made on his twitter account:

“Wow, Jesus just [screwed] #TimTebow bad! And on Xmas Eve! Somewhere … Satan is tebowing, saying to Hitler “Hey, Buffalo’s killing them.”

Wow!!! This is bound to get him in some trouble from all the political correct people in our society. Can’t wait to see how bizzerk some people end up going hear calling for his head.

Personally, I don’t get offended by much especially when it comes to religious comments because I am not very religious myself. That being said there is a fine line that Maher did cross with these comments. I understand making comments of this nature, getting into controversial debate is part of his brand & image which has made him as successful as he is. But, was it really necessary?

Leave Tebow alone. Fine if you really want to go after him make a few comments about Christmas and Jesus, heck I did on my twitter account during the game as well. But he could have stopped with the comments about Satan and most importantly Hitler. That’s absurd to have to associate his poor football performance to one of the worst human beings the world has ever encountered.
