Pretty solid first round record going 6-2 only being wrong with Anaheim & Vancouver but yet calling 3 correct underdogs. The second round will be absolutely phenomenal with some outstanding series on deck. I will give …

NFL Picks for Week 2

Another excruciating defeat on the diamond as the logic behind the UNDER was correct we just happened to screwed by an 8 running inning fuelled by an error that provided the additional 2 runs that pushed the game over the total. Wow, am I getting frustrated. Okay we put it behind us and focus on some football today. The OVERALL record now dips to: 9-10  48% -1.53 Units

I’ll start off my NFL Picks for Week 2 with the Thursday night game.

NFL: OVER 51 -110 CHICAGO BEARS/GREEN BAY PACKERS

I will first start off by stating I have this total OVER 49 when I bet it the second the total came out. I am aware the total has been steamed up quite a bit since the opening total but will not back away from it even a few points higher.

Let’s start with Green Bay that is coming off the worst historical season defensively in terms of yards allowed in NFL history last year. Their game against the 49ers did not show any signs of improvement. Now they are going up against an even more potent offense that has Cutler firing on all cylinders with a new and improved receiving core with good old friend Brandon Marhsall along with rookie Alshon Jefferey. Prior to having good receivers they were a run first offense with Matt Forte, with this new style it has caused them to become more potent with him coming out of the backfield then just a straight ball carrier. Plus, the additon of Michael Bush gives them a more traditional downhill power back that will help them in the red zone and short yardage situations they have often struggled with in the past.  Cutler has already come out on record stating there is no way the Packers can stop their offense, it may be cocky but it’s something I agree with. Now you know he will want to live up to what was said and follow up the Bears 41 point performance in week 1. Green Bay’s D may improve as the season progress’s but I don’t expect it to happen on a short week with less time to prepare for this new look Bear offense.

As for the Packers offense yes it looked anemic at times versus the 49ers but that’s because they are the top defensive unit in the NFL and had an entire offseason to prepare for the Packers. I can’t see this team struggling on offense at home two games in a row. It will seem like such a relief for Rodgers knowing he doesn’t have to face a defense that physical this week which should allow him to make more plays. The Bears D is not what it once was as the core players are aging, most of them coming from the front 7. There secondary has never been great and if there’s one player that can exploit it that would be Mr. Rodgers.

Another key factor that could help us get up and OVER the total is both team’s electrifying return men in Cobb & Hester. It would not shock me at all if a return was taken to the house, and at the very least giving both offenses terrific field position. The game is on prime time TV which also helps are cause as it seems like these games always find a way to get whackier and go over the total with the national spotlight watching.

I know traditionally these two rivals have played lower scoring games. And for the most part I feel that value is generally on UNDERS in divisional games, I cannot see that being the case here as each team easily scored into the mid 20′s and this game ends up 31-25 or so.
