Both games I liked ended up cashing both the Bruins and Reds so it didn’t really matter at the end of the day which one I chose for the POD. Nice to see myself actually …

Chad’s Play of the Day September 18

Submitted by on Tuesday, 18 September 2012No Comment

Finally back on track with the NFL over the past couple of days helping even out the record at even .500 12-12 -0.53 Units

No football today so we are forced back to the diamond where we will take a look at the crucial game one of a series.

TEXAS RANGERS (Ryan Dempster) +130 @ Anaheim Angels (Jered Weaver)

It seems like everytime the Angels get into a crucial series this year against top notch teams in the AL they seemingly always come out on the wrong side. So I will take a shot with the best team in the AL catching a big underdog price on the road. Plus, it’s not like the Angels have a great home record at 40-32 which is the exact same as the Rangers on the road. I always feel like when it requires a team coming up with clutch hits its the Rangers more likely to do so. Even though the Angels on paper are equally as talented they don’t seem to have the team chemistry of Texas which explains why they still 7 games ahead of them in the standings. The price on the home side is strictly based on how much better Weaver is then Dempster; something that I don’t believe how was quite the gap of this price range.

Since coming to AL Dempster struggled his first couple of starts but in his last 5 all of them being quality never giving up more then 2ER per start. His overall numbers of a 2.86 ERA and 1.12 WHIP is pretty much on par with Weaver’s 2.74 ERA and 1.00 WHIP. Even if this game is close in the late innings not only do I trust the Texas bats more and overall team chemistry having been extremely successful in big games throughout the AL last year I believe they have a substantial advantage in the bullpen.

It’s not often we see the Rangers catching his much of an UNDERDOG price with a starting pitcher whose ERA is UNDER 3. Let’s take advantage of it.
