Eric Winstrom Epic Rant Towards Chief Fans
Matt Cassel has been abysmal all season long and is a huge reason as to why the Chiefs are 1-4 this season following a touch 9-6 loss to the Ravens at home today. During the game Matt Cassel got hurt on a play which got the Arrowhead fateful happy deciding to cheer on his injury. Below is a video of what occurred on the field with the fans cheering:
After the game one of Cassel’s tackle Eric Winstrom was extremely pissed off with the crowd reaction on the play and went on an epic rant calling out the fans for their behaviour. He even said during his interview that he wants this to be put in newspaper, on tv and on the internet. So we might as well respect the man’s wishes right?
Please listen to what he said as it’s absolutely brilliant. Thanks to blacksportsonline.com for taking the audio from 610 Sports in KC and putting it up on youtube:
I couldn’t agree more with Winstrom’s assessment of how the fans handled the Cassel situation. Not only was the premise of his main point correct in terms of not cheering for injuries. It was more so how he spoke of the fans and the respect he showed them. Often times we see athletes ranting and raving not demonstrating the respect level they should to the paying customer like he did. Furthermore, he even went onto elaborate on the overall long term health risks of playing football never wanting to put blame on the game; accepting all responsibility.
Even as a lunatic sports fan myself sometimes I want to see certain players out of the game on a team I’m cheering for. But, never would I wish ill will on them which is what the Chiefs fans did towards Cassel. Like Winstrom said he has never done anything wrong to you personally. It truly is a disgrace in the grand scheme of what’s going on in our world to have fans reach to lows like this.
Good for you Winstrom sticking up for your teammate and ripping the fans that were extremely deserving of this rant.
