Gary Bettman Lashes back at IIHF

Submitted by on Saturday, 29 May 2010No Comment

Wow who would have ever thought IntheOT agrees with Gary Bettman?  You guys know I went on a tirade towards that fool Szymon Szemeberg when he called out the NHL stars:

Last weekend Brian Burke responded in typical Burkie fashion:

Now Bettman steps in with his comments:

I guess three great minds think a like…. hahahah.

What I find most interesting about his article is the fact that it was immediately taken off the website.  If you feel so strong about your opinions shouldn’t you feel confident leaving your post on the website?

And if Syzmon realized he made a mistake and that was the reason he took it down; then step up be a man apologize for your mistakes.

These type of comments and reaction from the commissioner and prominent GM like Burke can’t go over well with the IIHF.  Who knows what kind of long term dent this could put in the relationship between the NHL and IIHF.

If they want NHL stars to play in their tournaments annually they should really think about what’s being said. Plus, with the Olympics in 2014 they don’t have a deal secured to send NHL players over.

The IIHF can sit there and say they don’t care if the NHL players are playing. But who are they kidding?  The amount of money they make from these tournaments is absurd.

So I suggest they smarten up real soon.  Instead of criticizing they should be getting on the floor and sucking up. The NHL doesn’t owe anything to the IIHF, they should feel lucky and fortunate to get any high quality players from the NHL to help their tournaments.
