JR Smith Believes Lin’s Contract Would Bother Entire Knicks Team

Submitted by on Monday, 16 July 2012No Comment

Yesterday Carmelo Anthony called Jeremy Lin’s RFA sheet “ridiculous”. Today his teammate and good friend JR Smith has decided to echo the same opinion. He’s even gone one step further by saying it would bother the entire Knicks roster. This being the key comments from his recent article with Sam Amick of Sports Illustrated:

“Without a doubt I think some guys take it personal, because they’ve been doing it longer and haven’t received any reward for it yet. I think it’s a tough subject to touch on for a lot of guys.”
Like I told Carmelo to shut up the same logic will be applied to JR Smith as well. You are not the GM or team owner. It doesn’t matter if he is getting overpaid it does NOT come out of your pocket. You keep these thoughts to yourself instead of potentially disrupting team chemistry and camaraderie.

It really comes as no shock that JR Smith would be the next person in line on the Knicks to make these comments. He is good friends with Carmelo dating back to their Nuggets days. They are both similar type of players who are predominantly one dimensional offensively minded bringing limited additional skills and assets to the court. From a personality stand point they have both shown signs of greed. Carmelo always wanting max money and forcing his way out of Denver. JR Smith signing for the most possible money in China during the lockout and then choosing the Knicks this year and moving forward for the MOST possible money of any NBA option. GREED GREED.

How about trying to respect what Lin brings to the table as a teammate? Don’t hate on him for somebody else offering a ton of money. He is not the first nor the last to receive an inflated contract. It’s the reality of being a professional athlete. It’s not like you are completely underpaid living a tough life with your contract. Suck it up and shut up. And oh yeah let the rest of the team speak for themselves they have their opinions and don’t need you to be the voice of the New York Knicks.
