Mayweather Still Calling out Pacquiao for Steroid Use; References Increased Hat Size

Submitted by on Wednesday, 2 May 2012One Comment

With Floyd Mayweather is getting prepared to take on Miguel Cotto for the WBA Super Light Middlweight Title he cannot dodge questions about Pacquiao from the media. Today during his press conference he decided to once again take some shots at Pacquiao about his steroid use which is one of the key reasons the two have not been able to come to an agreement to meet in the ring. Thanks to blacksportsonline.com for the quotes:

“This is so easy, Ray Charles can see this, it’s basic common sense, go look at the pictures and tell me this man’s head didn’t get bigger. This man probably went from a 7 1/4 to an 8 fitted hat.”

Gotta give full marks in creativity to Floyd here by referencing the hat size increase. At least when he calls out PacMan he’s switching it up instead of just straight up saying he’s using steroids, he’s specifically pointing body parts that he’s noticed get larger. Yes we all know the head is one area that often gets larger when using steroids IE Barry Bonds go look at his pictures pre and post steroids, its pretty funny and obvious.

Even though I often cannot stand Mayweather’s over the top cocky, conceded attitude which often looks down at other people I have always agreed with his stance in this entire steroid issue that seems to be one of the route issues holding the two back from fighting. If Pacquiao is clean and has never used them why would it be an issue to take the test? If you are innocent what is their to hide?

Until Pacquiao agrees to this or at least provides everyone with a valid reason as to why he refuses to adhere to Mayweathers drug testing request I hope he continues to made fun of. Step up be a man and deal with this important issue. I understand for the most part the public likes Pacquiao because he comes across as a genuinely nice guy and not nearly as much of a prick as Mayweather, but let’s wake up people. These are serious allegations.

It’s also appalling how the main stream media does not seem to report on this enough or make a big enough stink. Just imagine if the roles were reversed. I can’t imagine the negative picture that would be painted about Mayweather for refusing to do a drug test holding back what would be the most viewed fight in boxing history.

Actually, the mainstream media has covered this pretty much ad nauseum, as the Pacquiao/Mayweather fight is a HUGE draw.

Unfortunately at this point BOTH camps have made offers and backed out for various reasons, so this amounts to more or less just “trash talking.” Ali did it when he was fighting, Mayweather Sr. did as well. It’s part of building the hype.

fun fact: they’ve agreed to drug testing terms before but those terms got changed and thus the agreement broke down.

The public wants this fight, and hopefully it’ll happen despite the fact that it’s been over two years building (and delayed more as Mayweather is currently serving a 90-day sentence for beating his ex-girlfriend — though we’ll see how much time he ACTUALLY serves).

also, side note: you have a couple spelling and grammatical errors.
