Tiger Woods addicted to Sex? Which Male Isn’t?
Recent news reports that Tiger Woods has been treated to a sex therapy center in Mississippi. I decided to write about it is because I find it absolutely hysterical. It is pretty simple to read into the logic and reasoning of Tiger Woods with his attendance at the sex addiction clinic.
Firstly, I will briefly mention that I think that addiction clinics are overrated. They thrive on the miseries of others and assess the blame on uncontrollable elements that a human being does not have. Then they come up with some BS 12 step program that will resolve your life and prevent you from relapse. And in the event that you relapse their doors are wide open to have you come back and charge you more money.
I also find it ironic how in most addiction and rehab centers the biggest sign and most obvious room is the marketing department. Do they really care about the well being of people or are they more concerned with the bottom line of their business? I tend to believe that they care more about their profits then really helping people get their lives back on track.
When people are have “mental disorders” and are “sick” why should anyone have the ability to profit out of these situations? If they cared that much about people they would allow everyone to attend for free and help them get better without worrying about making money.
Anyways back to Tiger. Addicted to sex? I think its safe to say that 80% or higher of males are addicted to sex. When I mean addicted, they want to have sex constantly, think about it often and try to make it happen. The reality of the situation is most guys probably don’t laid enough to be considered an addict. An addict needs to frequently participate or have the life immersed in their addiction. If you don’t have sex frequently it’s hard to be considered an addict.
Tiger is one of the most famous people in the world and he is worth a billion, he has no problem getting laid by tons of hot woman. He doesn’t even have to put in any work. Most guys dream of walking into a room full of hot chicks letting them all flock there way and being able to choose which ones they can sleep with. Unfortunately that is not the way our society works for the average John Smith.
I do not condone Tigers behavior sleeping with several women while having a wife and children at home. There needs to be accountability in a relationship with a wife and a family. When two people enter a marriage it is with the intention of staying together long term and enjoying each others company for the rest of time. Well maybe not all the time, there often cases that are based solely on improving personal financial situations. I know that divorce rates are exceeding 50% in North America so people often change their minds during marriage for multiple reasons. If Tiger wanted to have multiple sexual relations he should have been honest earlier on and called off his marriage with his wife, it is only fair for her to know what is going on.
Tiger does not need to be sent away for sex addiction counseling. He was probably told to do so by his publicist, agent and other business people who impact his life. He wants to do everything he can to try and regain his once flawless image in the public eye.
But, really who does he think he is kidding? If there was any counseling that he should be seeking professional help it should be for personal integrity and honesty. That is what bothers me most about the whole situation. If he was single and didn’t have a family at home I would be supportive of his sexual activities. Every man should be able to screw as many chicks as they want when running around single with no family to be accountable for. At the end of the day it comes down to his own personal control over himself and how much he values certain relationships in his life.
Other professionals would agree that this supposed “addiction” is an Americanized joke. As many of you know I have some pretty firm and out there ideas, but its nice to know that professionals are seeing eye to eye on this one with me.
Forensic psychiatrist, Jeff Danzinger said:
“Sex addiction is not a recognized mental disorder. In the catalog of mental disorders, there’s nothing in there that says sex addiction. It’s not in there. … It doesn’t rise to the level of a diagnosis.”
Phillip Hodson fellow of the British Association for counseling Psychotherapy would go onto say:
“The term “addiction” is not appropriate for this behavior, which would be better described as obsessive, compulsive or even greedy. Some very successful men have a habit of thinking they can get away with anything, especially behavior they view as exciting. Sexual addiction is a relatively recent American, jargonized category of personality behavior. It uses a medical model – ‘I’m an addict, I’ve got an illness and need a 12-step program.’ But I don’t buy into it.”
Glenn Wilson of England’s Institution of Psychiatry:
“The original idea of addiction was that you had a chemical hijacking of the circuits of the brain built to give you pleasure as reward for doing things of a survival value, such as eating or having sex. But to turn round and argue that one is addicted to chocolate or sex, which is activities you would expect to be rewarded in survival terms, strikes me as hijacking the concept of addiction.
It’s a way that people signal to the world that they think they have a problem and need to break it. But they are no different from anyone else, he says, because we all have sexual drives which can get us into trouble without inhibition or control.”
Bottom line all guys are addicted to sex, it’s not something that creates any criminal activity, and it’s not an addiction like drugs, overeating or gambling. Tiger you ain’t fooling anyone. Get back on the course and beat Jacks record.
